My Opinion

This is a dangerous time in America and for that matter the world. Shootings are happening every day in cities across America, police officers are being attacked and are involved in shootings. What should be simple traffic stops are resulting in shootings. It remains to be seen if the shootings are justified. I support the thousands of great officers on the job, working to protect and serve our needs every day.

Politically the country is divided and I do not see the division ending with the elections in November. There has been an increase in domestic terrorism, bombings, shootings, and stabbings. We have been at war the last 15 years and still it continues.

We as Americans need to come together and work together for the common good. Protesters have the right to protest but they do not have the right to riot. Rioting will not bring about effective change. We all need to conduct ourselves as American citizens first and foremost, stay united and not divided.

We need to stay aware of our surroundings and practice situational awareness at all times. Again, just my opinions.

Ozark Trail 30 Ounce Tumbler

Last October I did a review of the Yeti 30 Ounce Tumbler and I was blown away with how well it worked. The only problem with the Yeti Tumbler is the $40 price tag.

I recently had the chance to pick up the Ozark Trail 30 Ounce Tumbler from Walmart priced at $9.74.  I have to say this Tumbler works just as well at keeping ice in my water all day long, just like the Yeti does. As far as I am concerned this cup is almost identical to the Yeti Tumbler and for the price, the Ozark Trail is an outstanding purchase.

What are your thoughts?

Deer Vitals

It does not matter if you are a seasoned hunter or just starting out as a first year hunter. We all need to be reminded and aware of shot placement. As bowhunters it is even more critical that we are aware of the vitals on the game we pursue.

By now everyone should be practicing, not only shooting field tips but broadheads as well. Good luck and shoot straight.

Rainbow Trout Mount

It's been awhile since I posted, and just wanted to check in with everyone.  My friend Chad delivered my rainbow trout this week (21 inches, 5 pounds). I think the taxidermy turned out fantastic and it will look great on my wall.

This trout was caught at the pond in 84 Pa on the Western Pennsylvania Wounded Warrior property. At their 1st annual fishing day, I would like to thank everyone involved and who helped me catch and land this beautiful trout.

First Day Shooting the New Mount

Here is a short video of me shooting four shots with the new mount. The slow motion effects just add to the cool factor. This new mount is easy to get back on target using very little pressure from my chin and arm. I was shooting 1.25 inch groups which are the best I have shot since my injury.  Thanks Jesse for the video and your help shooting today!

New Gun Mount For 2016

As many of you know I have not been hunting very much this year due to my right foot.  So I thought I would take the time to re-examine my rifle/crossbow mount.  My friend Jesse offered to complete the welds and help redesign the mount.

This mount would also incorporate the Be Adaptive sip and puff trigger and would be adjustable for almost any rifle/crossbow configuration. The mount it's self is made from one inch square steel tubing, flat steel, angled steel and conduit purchased at Home Depot. It also contains added weight to the rear of the mount and a coupler placed on the conduit to ensure the proper height each time the mount is placed onto my wheelchair.

One inch nylon straps attach the rifle to the mount securing rifle stability and creating greater accuracy. 2mm foam has been placed on the contact points with the rifle. The sip and puff trigger is held in place with Velcro and operated by a 12 V battery.

The mount is very well balanced and stable. I can easily move the mount from side to side and up-and-down. I feel like this mount will increase my accuracy and ability to get on game animals quickly and independently. Thank you so much Jesse for all of your hard work/ design. I would also like to thank Ed for the original design, each new Version gets better and better.

I have not been hunting very much this year, because of my foot. The amputation and surgery went well and the incisions are healing but I am still getting pressure sores on the side of my right foot.

As much as I like fall turkey hunting and of course archery season here in Pennsylvania I just have been unable to get out.

Good luck to all of you hunters, please continue to send me your photos and stories. If you have any ideas or would like to promote accessible hunting, or share your successful hunt, just let me know.
